Textual analysis of existing texts- Q double page spread.
This is a double page spread from Q magazine. Like other double page spreads I have looked at, half the spread is an image. What I really like about this double page spread is the large L on top of the article. The artist in the image is lady gaga and there is a large L on the text. I could try and recreate an idea like this. The "L" is the only thing in colour on the double page spread. This has a powerful effect because it make the reader look at the "L" immediately. There is not really any purpose of having a large "L" it just looks interesting . The title of this double page spread is actually not that interesting it is just simple writing and black text. When I researched a double page spread from NME I found that there actually wasn't a lot of text. The double page spread from this magazine is different because it has a lot more text. If someone is flicking through the magazine trying to decide whether to buy the magazine, a double page spread like this one would convince them to buy it because of how artistic it is. This double page is designed in a very specific way. I think when I make my double page spread I will not include as much text.
