This is my first draft for my front cover.
From this draft there is things that I can change and improve and also things that I will keep.
I will keep the phone box. I like the way the cover lines are positioned next to the phone box. I have tried to use the conventional idea of the model covering the masthead. Though this does make it look professional and like a magazine I think I need to consider if I keep this idea. By doing this it does make it difficult to understand what the magazine is called.
There is some other improvements I need to make. One is that I think the model is actually too dark. I have looked at reading magazine images. I found that audiences actually prefer the hyper real images. Magazine are supposed to look glossy. I like having a black and white background but I think the model should be darker. Personally I think there is a bit too big of a gap at the top of the cover between the selling line and the main image. I would need to work out how but it would be ideal if I could fill this gap. I don't think the 'exclusive commentary interview with' should be in black. I don't think it draws as much attention to the main cover line. I think the band name should actually be a little bit bigger. One thing I do like is the colours in the cover lines. I have tried to use a pattern in the colours I used. I also tried to stick to the magazine rule of only having a colour pallet of three colours. I do need to change the fonts I used for my cover lines. This font does not look professional enough. It does not really look like a font that would be used on a magazine. It is a bit too small.
