Uses and gratification

I have been researching the theory of uses and gratification. The theory explains why people will use a particular media to gratify their needs.
Audiences use media text to gratify needs for:
- Diversion
- Escapism
- Information
-Pleasure
- Comparing relationships and lifestyles with one's own.
- Sexual stimulation

The theory of uses and gratification means the audience is in control and by consuming the media it can help people with issues such as :
- Learning
-Emotional Satisfaction
-Relaxation
- Help with the issue of personal identity
- Help with issues of aggression and violence.

In my opinion a music magazine gratifies the audiences needs for pleasure mostly, however a music magazine also offers escapism, diversion, information and in some cases so that the audience can compare their lives to others. A music magazine might give information of upcoming events. I would say that a music magazine does help somebody discover their personal identity because they may only like a particular music magazine because it gives them ideas on how to live their life. Like most magazines , a music magazine will be read by some people for enjoyment.
